Welcome Letter

From: health and physical educators of Scott School

 Dear parents and/or guardians,

I wanted to take a moment to introduce our staff and our physical education program as the school year kicks off. My name is Mr. Keener and I will be teaching your student(s) this year along with Mr. Lupia. We are very excited to start this new school year. We consider it a privilege to teach your child during this school year.

In physical education this year your child will learn vocabulary, concepts and skills related to health and physical activity. Students in grades kindergarten through fourth grade will learn and play games based around the following concepts:

  • Space awareness and directions

  • Fundamental movement skills

  • Manipulatives; including throwing and kicking skills

  • Low organized games

  • Cooperatives activities

  • Aerobic and anaerobic activities

What can you and your child do to make this year a success?

  • Students should wear sneakers on days they have physical education

  • Parents/guardians should notify the physical education teacher of any illness or injury that may prevent their child from participating

  • Students should get a good night’s sleep and eat breakfast each morning

  • Students are expected to be ready, responsible, and respectful to themselves, the teacher, and each other at all time

  • Talk to your child about their experience in physical education

  • It would be greatly appreciated if parents address any behavior concerns that the teacher may notify about their child’s behavior

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us! We look forward to a great year!
